In addition to Mastercard and Visa cards, these acquirers also processed other global brands—UnionPay, JCB, Diners Club/Discover, and American Express—as well as domestic-only brands in markets including India, South Korea, and Taiwan.

Global brand and domestic-only cards combined to generate $3.814 trillion in purchase volume from 45.61 billion purchase transactions last year for these 34 acquirers.

The 10 largest acquirers processed 36.66 billion purchase transactions from global and domestic brands, equal to over 80% of all transactions handled by the 34 largest.

China UnionPay Merchant Services (China UMS) remained Asia-Pacific’s largest acquirer. Purchase transactions processed grew 78% last year.

Based on purchase transactions processed, the other acquirers in the top 10 were KB Kookmin, JCB, Westpac, Commonwealth Bank, Samsung Card, ANZ Merchant Services, Hyundai Card, and Mitsubishi UFJ Nicos.
