The largest transaction in 2025 was the purchase of global merchant acquirer Worldpay by its competitor, Global Payments. Worldpay had been owned by financial services technology company FIS and private equity firm GTCR. The deal, which closed this month, was valued at $24.25 billion.

In 2024, the value of 67 investment transactions for which the monetary value was announced amounted to $5.51 billion. This compares to 85 deals with announced values totaling $8.90 billion in 2023.
Total credit card volume (purchases and cash advances) was $224.58 billion for Discover Financial Services (DFS) in 2024, a decline of 3.5%. Cash advances were 5.49% of total volume, down from 6.39% in 2023. Outstanding credit card receivables at year-end 2024 were up 0.5% to $102.79 billion.
