Bancontact/Mister Cash Mobile Payments

The domestic debit card network in Belgium, Bancontact/Mister Cash, launched a QR-code-based mobile payment application for iOS, Android, and Windows smartphones in 2014, and at year-end 2015 more than 1.5 million Belgians were using it. Customers fund payments by linking the app to their current (checking) account. Last year in-store and online purchases of goods and services as well as person-to-person payments (P2P) were valued at $22.2 million (€20.4 million), up 429% over 2014.
