Bell ID Sold to Rambus

A semiconductor and IP products firm has purchased mobile payments specialist Bell ID. Terms were not disclosed. The buyer is Rambus Inc., a company formed 25 years ago to create technology that managed the bandwidth between processor and memory chips. Rambus subsequently moved into related businesses, including purchasing Cryptography Research, a security management firm, in 2011. The acquisition of Bell ID signals its continued effort at diversification.
