Discover Financial Services Results—2022

Purchases of goods and services on credit cards and prepaid cards combined with credit card cash advances grew 16.5% to $224.48 billion for Discover Financial Services (DFS) in 2022. Cash volume accounted for 6.16% of total volume, an increase from 5.51% in 2021. Credit cards in circulation carrying the Discover brand on December 31, 2022, reached 74.5 million, up 22.2% from 2021. Outstanding credit card receivables grew 21.2% to $90.11 billion at year-end 2022. DFS had net income after taxes of $4.39 billion, a decline of 19.4% from $5.45 billion in 2021.
