EBay Managed Payments Expands to New Markets

In 2015, multinational ecommerce marketplace eBay spun off its PayPal payment processing unit in an all-stock transaction to shareholders. The companies signed a five-year agreement that identified how they would manage and transition payment processing for the nearly 19 million sellers on the eBay platform. That agreement began to expire in January 2018 when eBay gained the opportunity to directly provide payment processing services for 10% of the sales on its platform in up to two countries.
