General purpose consumer, small business and commercial credit card products carry the Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover brands. The 30 largest in calendar year 2023 are ranked in the table on page 5. The private label cards owned by some of these issuers are not included here. Purchase volume initiated by all general purpose credit cards issued in the US was $5.821 trillion in 2023, up 6.8% over 2022.
