Mercedes Partners with Mastercard for Tokenized Onboard Payments

Mercedes-Benz has introduced the next iteration of Mercedes pay+ in its S-Class and C-Class sedans as well as its GLC models. The service differs from in-vehicle wallets available from other car manufacturers because it uses an onboard fingerprint reader to secure payments. Currently available in Germany, where it is used to purchase fuel at 3,600 Aral and other stations, Mercedes pay+ will expand throughout Europe in 2024. Mastercard provides the payment gateway and token authentication capabilities for Mercedes pay+, although the fingerprint sensors can secure payments for any card brand....
