Store Cards in the U.S. — 2019

Purchase volume generated by private label store credit cards grew to $191.08 billion in 2019, up 4.5%. This compares to 7.8% growth in purchase volume on American Express, Discover, Mastercard, and Visa general purpose credit cards, which totaled $3.966 trillion in 2019. Outstanding receivables tied to private label store cards dipped 0.1% in 2019 to $130.94 billion, while outstandings on general purpose cards grew 4.6% and reached $1.018 trillion.
