Top U.S. Credit Card Issuer Profits — 2020

American Express, Bank of America, Capital One, Citigroup, Discover Financial, JPMorgan Chase, Synchrony Financial and U.S. Bancorp were the most profitable payment card companies in the United States last year. They earned a combined $19.16 billion in pretax net income from their card businesses. However, that amount was a decline of 45.9% from 2019.
