Visa to Acquire Tokenization/Transport Assets

Visa has signed a definitive agreement to acquire the token services and ticketing businesses of Rambus for $75.0 million in cash. Rambus acquired those assets in 2016 from Smart Card Software for $87.7 million (£64.7 million). Visa’s existing network tokenization capabilities focus on 16-digit primary account numbers for credit and debit cards.
