Wirecard Expands to the U.S.

Citi’s U.S.-based prepaid card business will be purchased by Germany-based Wirecard, which will gain its first assets in North America. The price was not announced. Wirecard, which earns a majority of its revenue in Europe from merchant acquiring and related processing services including mobile payments, also issues prepaid cards in eight European countries directly and with mobile network operators.
