Nexo’s Crypto Mastercard

Among the many companies that provide loans to owners of cryptocurrencies, three offer a credit card to their customers. BlockFi (Visa) and Gemini (Mastercard) offer credit cards in the US. The Nexo Mastercard, which is issued and processed by Poland-based DiPocket, is the first available in the European Economic Area.

Plaid announced support for crypto exchanges and investment platforms. Users will be able to link crypto account information with platforms used for financial planning, tax advisory and other services. The company currently connects to Binance.US, Gemini, Robinhood and SoFi. Connections to additional platforms, including Blockchain.com and BitGo, are planned for later this year. 

Mastercard’s CipherTrace Technology

Blockchain analytics and cryptocurrency intelligence is the expertise of CipherTrace, which was acquired by Mastercard last year. CipherTrace had more than 50 customers worldwide among financial institutions, digital asset exchanges and governments when Mastercard bought the company.

Crypto.com, a digital currency exchange, will accept cryptocurrency purchases using Apple Pay from within the company’s app. 

Amex, Abra Crypto Card

Abra, which provides cryptocurrency trading, yield earning and borrowing services, will offer its customers the Abra Crypto Card on the American Express network. Amex will not issue the card, which will be the first to offer cryptocurrency as a reward for purchases made on the American Express global payment network.

Mastercard is working with marketplaces and cryptocurrency service providers MoonPay, Immutable X, Candy Digital, The Sandbox, Mintable, Spring and Nifty Gateway to allow card payments for NFTs and Web 3.0 commerce.

Payment processor Jack Henry will partner with Nydig, an institutional digital asset firm, to provide crypto transactions on its Banno Digital Platform. Jack Henry services 7.1 million consumers through local and regional financial institutions.

OLB Adds Crypto to Software and Processing

OLB Group is comprised of multiple subsidiaries with assets in software, merchant services and cryptocurrency.  Last year, the company’s cloud-based eVance merchant processing business, which includes the company’s SecurePay payment gateway, handled $900 million in card payments.

Wirex, a digital currency payment platform, launched a Visa prepaid card issued by Sutton Bank in the U.S. that will facilitate conversion of 37 cryptocurrencies from Wirex wallets at the point of sale with zero exchange fees.

Blockchain B2B Payments

More than $1.00 billion in payments have been processed by CoreChain since its launch in September 2020. The company’s native blockchain-based business-to-business (B2B) payment service is available on a white-label basis to enterprise resource planning and business process automation software companies, B2B marketplaces, banks and payment networks.
