Card-Present Transactions for Online Merchants

Software that enables card-present transactions for online merchants by using a buyer’s phone to enter a PIN is available from start-up Burbank. The company calls its technology card-present over internet (CPoI). Burbank’s CPoI software is PCI DSS and PCI PIN approved. Customer devices require an NFC reader. PCI rules require that smartphones operate on Android 10 or above. Apple iOS devices are also supported.
