American Express, Interac, Mastercard, and Visa consumer and commercial credit, debit, and prepaid cards issued in Canada generated $593.26 billion in purchase volume for goods and services in 2017, an increase of 9.5% over 2016. Purchase volume combined with cash advances and withdrawals brought total volume on these general purpose cards to $629.27 billion.
