Cards in the Middle East and Africa Region — 2019

Credit, debit, and prepaid cards issued in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region carrying global brands—American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard, and Visa—generated $1.231 trillion in 2019 in purchases of goods and services, cash advances, and cash withdrawals, up 14.6% from 2018. Cash advances and withdrawals combined reached $728.67 billion, up 12.4%. They amounted to 59.21% of total volume in the region. This was a decline from 60.34% in 2018.
