Credit and prepaid cards carrying the Discover brand generated $121.47 billion in purchase volume at merchants in 2016, up 2.5% over the prior year. Cash advances (including balance transfers) of $10.91 billion increased by 16.1% versus 2015. Purchase volume and cash volume combined reached $132.37 billion, up 3.5%. Cash volume accounted for 8.24% of total volume in 2016 compared to 7.35% in 2015. Outstanding credit card receivables grew from $57.94 billion to $61.56 billion, an increase of 6.3%.
