Discover Financial Services Results—2021

Total Discover card volume, which is a combination of purchases of goods and services with credit card cash advances, grew 25.2% to $192.76 billion in 2021. Credit card cash volume accounted for 5.51% of total volume, down from 7.24% in 2020. The number of credit cards in circulation at December 31, 2021, was 61.0 million, an increase of 2.0% from a year earlier. Outstanding credit card receivables of $74.37 billion at year-end 2021 grew 4.1%. Net income after taxes of $5.45 billion at Discover Financial Services (DFS) was up 377.6% from $1.14 billion in 2020. Revenue net of interest expens...
