Last year, manufacturers shipped 6.21 billion payment cards, up 7.8%. Visa and Mastercard credit, debit, and prepaid cards totaled 4.20 billion, up 7.4% over 2014. There were another 1.0 billion (up 17.2%) high-security credit, debit, and prepaid cards carrying the brands of UnionPay, American Express, Diners Club, Discover, JCB, Maestro, and ATM and local-market-only cards.
