Real-Time Payments in the U.S.

The Clearing House Payments Company signed a contract in December 2015 for software from U.K.-based VocaLink needed to create a new interbank payment system that will give consumers and businesses the ability to send and receive payments instantaneously. IBM Power8-based hardware running Linux and AIX operating systems will host that system. VocaLink, soon to be a subsidiary of Mastercard, previously created real-time payment systems in the U.K. and Singapore.
