Two years ago, Shift4 bought The Giving Block, a start-up provider of cryptocurrency acceptance services to 2,000 nonprofit organizations. Giving Block saw the opportunity for nonprofits to benefit from the appreciated value of donated crypto assets, much like the established practice of receiving gifts of appreciated stock from donors.
