Software-Based PIN on Glass

There are no standards for software-based PIN entry on touchscreens. However, payment processor Cuscal, the largest operator of POS terminals in Australia, is conducting a proof-of-concept test of so-called PIN on Glass on up to 5,000 tablet and smartphone devices linked to payment facilitator Square. MasterCard and Visa are participating in the test. In the Australia test, cards are being inserted into EMV Level 1 or Level 2 approved card readers to protect the primary account numbers.
