The 50 largest issuers of Visa, MasterCard, and Discover brand general purpose prepaid cards in the U.S. accounted for $126.71 billion in purchase volume at merchants in 2014, up 15.7% from the previous year. That spending was generated by 3.77 billion purchase transactions, up 15.9% from 2013. The average purchase transaction amount was $33.57.
