U.S. Bank to Buy Union Bank

The proposed acquisition of MUFG Union Bank by U.S. Bank will bring the buyer 1 million new consumer customers and 160,000 small business customers based on the West Coast. At midyear 2021, Union Bank’s credit card portfolio held $485.8 million in outstandings. It ranked 43 largest among Visa and Mastercard credit card issuers. The bank’s 314,139 credit cards in circulation generated $1.15 billion in purchase volume during the first six months of this year.
