U.S. Debit Cards Projected — 2019

Purchase volume on U.S. issued general purpose and private label debit and prepaid cards is projected to reach $3.573 trillion in 2019, up 41.9% over $2.519 trillion in 2014. MasterCard and Visa transactions are settled through BankNet and VisaNet. EFT transactions are settled through Accel, Nyce, Pulse, Star, and other networks. Private label debit cards issued by Target, Nordstrom, Shell, Circle K, Marathon, and other merchants are settled through the automated clearinghouse network (ACH).
