US General Purpose Credit Card Issuers at Midyear 2024

The 30 largest US issuers of Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover credit cards (general purpose cards) owned outstanding receivables of $1.154 trillion on June 30, 2024. This was up 8.6% versus the top 30 issuers on June 30, 2023. Ranked by credit card purchase volume for January 1 through June 30, 2024, these 30 issuers generated $2.707 trillion, up 4.5% over the same period in 2023 for the top 30 issuers at that time.
