Purchase transactions generated by credit, debit and prepaid commercial, small business and consumer cards issued in Canada with Visa, Mastercard, Interac and American Express brands reached 15.43 billion in 2022. This was an increase of 11.2% from 2021. Interac, Canada’s national debit card brand, had the top market share based on purchase transactions in 2022 despite a drop of 203 basis points (bps) to 40.84%.
