Canada Cards — 2014

Purchase volume at merchants generated by Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Interac brand consumer and commercial credit, debit, and prepaid cards issued in Canada totaled $569.74 billion in 2014, up 6.3% versus 2013. Total volume on these general purpose cards, including cash advances and withdrawals, reached $608.67 billion. Cash accounted for 6.40%, down from 6.72% in 2013. MasterCard had the highest percentage increase in purchase volume with growth of 8.7% to $122.74 billion, up $9.87 billion. Visa purchase volume grew by 8.2% to $233.85 billion, up $17.72 billion.
