Cielo, Brazil’s largest acquirer, has offered cryptocurrency acceptance since September 2019. The service is a feature of Cielo QR Code Pay, an open platform in which different wallets can integrate through APIs. Cielo software in POS terminals generate QR codes to facilitate payments. The majority of POS terminals at Cielo’s 1.6 million active merchants have displays large enough to present a QR code, which opens all of those outlets to cryptocurrency payments.
