Fingerprint Biometric Card Tests in U.S./Europe

Bank of Cyprus and Mountain America Credit Union in the U.S. will begin testing cardholder fingerprints as an authentication method replacement for PINs (personal identification numbers) at the point of sale. Both cards will be dual interface (contact/contactless) and EMV compliant. They will carry the Visa brand. Gemalto is manufacturing the Bank of Cyprus card. Kona I, which is based in Korea, is manufacturing the Mountain America Credit Union card.
