Global Payments, the 8th largest U.S. merchant acquirer and the 9th largest worldwide, has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Heartland Payment Systems, the 9th largest U.S. acquirer and 12th largest worldwide. When combined, the businesses will have adjusted net revenue of more than $3 billion, and $1 billion in earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization from payment services provided to more than 2.4 million merchants in 29 countries.
