Listed on page 11 are the 46 largest merchant acquirers in Latin America and the Caribbean. Collectively they processed 17.49 billion Visa and Mastercard payment card transactions from 6.5 million active merchant outlets in the region in 2015. Purchase volume generated by those transactions was $862.78 billion. The five largest acquirers — Cielo, Rede, BBVA Bancomer, Prisma Medios de Pago, and Santander — collectively processed 70% of the Visa and Mastercard transactions handled by the group.
