American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard and Visa credit, debit and prepaid cards issued in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) region generated $1.728 trillion in total volume in 2022, up 16.0% from 2021. Total volume is the combination of purchases of goods and services with cash advances and cash withdrawals.
Purchase volume—spending for goods and services—grew to $925.65 billion, up 23.5%. The market share of purchase volume as a percent of total volume was 53.56%, up from 50.29% in 2021.
