The 31 largest Mastercard/Visa merchant card acquirers in the Middle East–Africa region are ranked on page 8 based on Mastercard and Visa transactions processed in 2016. These acquirers represented 13 countries. Collectively they processed $143.55 billion in purchase volume at 496,318 merchants from 2.71 billion Mastercard and Visa transactions last year. They processed another 16.6 million American Express, Diners Club, JCB, and UnionPay transactions valued at $2.15 billion.
