Payment Card Shipments by Manufacturer — 2019

Of the 4.74 billion payment cards shipped in 2019 by the manufacturers shown here, 81.02% were chip cards (3.84 billion), 18.79% were magnetic stripe cards (891.3 million) and 0.18% (8.7 million) were neither chip nor magstripe (i.e, barcode, scratch etc.). The six largest manufacturers shipped a combined 3.43 billion payment cards last year, up 6.6% from 2018. They shipped 2.70 billion chip cards and 735.3 million magstripe cards.
