Contactless Visa reported a substantial shift to contactless card payments in the face of the pandemic. The number of contactless cards in Latin America tripled in the last year, while contactless transactions exceeded 50% of face-to-face payments in Chile and Costa Rica. Contactless transactions accounted for one-third of the purchases on Visanet between January and March, up from one-fourth a year ago.
