The National Retail Federation, the Food Marketing Institute, the National Association of Convenience Stores, the National Grocers Association, and EFT networks Star and Shazam have formed the Secure Payments Partnership (SPP). The four merchant groups are members of the Merchants Payments Coalition (MPC), which formed in 2004 to fight to reduce payment card interchange fees.
