Top Credit Card Portfolios Worldwide — 2016

The 150 largest issuers of credit cards ranked by outstanding receivables at year-end 2016 are listed on page 8. Outstandings were tied to American Express, Diners Club, Discover, JCB, Mastercard, UnionPay, Visa, and domestic general purpose cards. Issuers from the U.S. held a 43% market share among the top 150 worldwide, followed by issuers from China with 29%. When measuring the top 150 by region, the U.S. had outstandings of $789.50 billion.
