Visa Buys Payworks

Payworks, a Germany-based provider of cloud-based, POS-terminal-agnostic PCI DSS services, point-to-point encryption, processing, and gateway services to payment service providers (PSPs) and acquirers, has been purchased by Visa. Terms were not disclosed. Payworks is connected to merchants in 21 countries, mostly in Europe, but also in Africa and the U.S. The company earns revenue from licensing fees and from the number of transactions handled from terminals it supports.
