Credit, debit, and prepaid Visa and Mastercard cards worldwide generated $10.071 trillion in purchase volume for the first nine months of 2019, an increase of 10.2% over the first nine months of 2018. Purchase volume on cards issued outside the U.S. accounted for 58.04% of the Visa and Mastercard worldwide total, up from 57.61% in 2018. Credit card purchase volume grew by 8.3% to $5.817 trillion, with 62.18% from cards issued outside the U.S., a slight decline from 62.21%.
