Tide is the first issuer of commercial cards in the UK to remove card account numbers, expiry date and security codes from the Mastercard cards it issues. That information will be stored in the Tide app. New cards are being rolled out to in collaboration with Mastercard. Tide is also expanding the lifecycle of its cards from three to four years. That move will save an estimated 270kg of plastic.

NEXI GROUP, an Italy-based provider of merchant and card account processing services, is facilitating Zippay person-to-person payments in Ireland for Allied Irish Bank, Bank of Ireland and PTSB. Zippay integrates with a bank’s mobile app. Users can send up to 1,000 euros a day and request up to 500 euros a day. The Zippay service operates exclusively using mobile phone numbers. It is open to all banks in Ireland that provide IBAN account services and a mobile app—a total of more than five million customers.
