Credit, debit and prepaid consumer and commercial American Express, Visa, Mastercard and Discover cards issued in the US generated $8.460 trillion in purchase volume in 2021, up 25.1% from 2020. Commercial card purchase volume grew 21.4% to $1.679 trillion. Consumer card purchase volume grew 26.0% to $6.780 trillion.
