IPO on Nasdaq for Brazil’s Stone

Merchant acquirer StoneCo (STNE) launched an initial public offering (IPO) of common stock on the Nasdaq Global Select Market on October 25, 2018, raising $1.22 billion from the sale of 50.7 million shares. Investors in Stone’s IPO included Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway, which took an 11.3% stake in the company. Prior to the IPO, StoneCo agreed to sell $100 million Class A common shares in a placement to Ant Small and Micro Financial Services, a subsidiary of China-based Ant Financial.
