Top 150 Credit Card Issuers Ranked by Purchase Volume — 2021

Spending for goods and services—purchase volume—initiated by credit cards issued by the 150 largest portfolios worldwide reached $12.695 trillion in 2021. This was up 9.4% from $11.605 trillion in 2020. The 10 largest issuers combined accounted for 43.1% of all purchase volume at the top 150. The top 10 was comprised of 5 issuers from the US with a combined $3.170 trillion in purchase volume and 5 issuers from China with a combined $2.306 trillion in purchase volume.
