Global Card Spending Projected — 2013 through 2023

American Express, Diners Club, Discover, JCB, MasterCard, Visa, and UnionPay global general purpose cards as well as PIN-based EFT systems cards in the U.S. and Canada are projected to generate purchase volume at merchants worldwide of $49.137 trillion by 2023. Credit, debit, and prepaid payment cards with global brands issued in the Asia-Pacific region, which held a 45.66% share of global purchase volume in 2013, are expected to generate 60.79% of worldwide spending at merchants in 2023.
